Hi, Mama! Before you start attacking me on potatoes and how they are not Paleo- Mama, I know. When it comes to some comfort foods like this Polish Sausage and Sauerkraut Crockpot Meal, switching out the red potatoes for a sweet potato or two would offend my dead grandmother’s heritage.

Homemade Polish Sausage and Sauerkraut Crockpot Meal is Paleo AND easy to make. Great for working families and simple enough to throw together.

I’m a true believer in ‘everything in moderation.’ There are plenty of worse food offenders out there like grain, sugar, and PUFAs. These top offenders should not be consumed in moderation and should be avoided at all costs.

If eating red potatoes in moderation is not your thing, switch them out for sweet potatoes, parsnips, or omit them altogether.

My boys (husband included) prefer red potatoes over sweet potatoes, so once a week I allow these offenders in a meal, but only in moderation. Somethings I’ll partake in a few or bake a sweet potato for myself on the side.

Polish Sausage – The story behind the Polish

Last week I already had my meals lined up and prepped, so this Polish Sausage and Sauerkraut Crockpot Meal was not on the menu.

I was doing my once a month Costco run, which I pretty much purchase everything, not on my list. (Kind of like my quick run in trips to Target). The struggle is real.

Each trip ends the same way, me telling the cashier not to tell my husband how much I actually spent.

Anyways, my kids were behaving, so I took an extra few minutes to look around at products and their ingredient lists. Most items were not Paleo, but the Polish Sausages I found were.

It was like a dream come true, a sausage without any unnecessary additives and preservatives. If you follow me on social media (Thank you if you do)!! you’re probably well aware of my sausage rant the other day.

I went home and crossed steak off the dinner plan for the evening and threw these bad boys (not my kids) into the crockpot with some sauerkraut and enjoyed this classic dish; Polish Sausage and Sauerkraut Crockpot Meal as a family.

Ingredients

  • 4 Paleo Polish Sausages
  • 2 Cups Sauerkraut
  • 6 Small Red Potatoes – Quartered

Time needed: 6 hours.

How to Make Paleo Polish Sausage and Sauerkraut in the Crockpot

  1. Place potatoes and polish sausages in a crockpot and cover with sauerkraut.

  2. Cover and cook on low for six hours.

  • 4 Paleo Polish Sausages
  • 2 Cups Sauerkraut
  • 6 Small Red Potatoes – Quartered
