Paleo Bacon-Wrapped Beef Bites with BBQ Sauce

If you love meat, you’ll love these low-carb protein-filled bites! Each bite is packed with 1g of protein and 2g of fat followed by zero carbohydrates. This is exciting news for those who follow the keto or carnivore diet and for those on the Paleo diet looking for a satiety treat.

This recipe works as an appetizer, side dish, or can be your main dish if you so choose. 😉

When I originally made this recipe, I marinated the meat in the BBQ sauce before wrapping in bacon. You can do this or serve with a side of BBQ (or ranch dressing). For this recipe, I wanted to keep it simple, and while the added marinating of the beef added excellent flavor, it was messy trying to wrap the bacon around each piece.

And if your family is anything like mine, they LOVE dipping!

You’ll want to read this blog post in its entirety for more helpful tips and tricks you’d typically by-pass. Or, if you are feeling lucky, jump to the recipe below and get started!

Either way, I’d love to hear how your bacon-wrapped beef bites turned out, so please leave a comment and share it with your friends and family.

How to Make Paleo Bacon-Wrapped Beef Bites with BBQ Sauce

1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line an edged baking sheet with parchment paper. Line a large plate with a paper towel. Set aside.

2. Season stew meat with sea salt and black pepper.

3. Take 1 piece of bacon and wrap it tightly around 1 piece of stew meat and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Follow this step until all pieces of stew meat are wrapped with bacon.

4. Bake in the preheated oven for 18 minutes. At 18 minutes, turn the broiler on high for an additional 2 minutes or until bacon becomes crispy.

5. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and flip the bacon bites and return to the oven for an additional 2 minutes under the broiler or until the bacon is crispy.

6. Place the bacon-wrapped beef bites onto the prepared paper towel-lined plate and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving with a side of BBQ sauce.

How to Store Paleo Bacon-Wrapped Beef Bites with BBQ Sauce

Bacon-wrapped beef bites can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for optimal freshness. When ready to eat, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake for 4 to 6 minutes or until warm to the touch. This will keep your beef bites crisp and flavorful.

Essential Equipment for Making Paleo Bacon-Wrapped Beef Bites

Baking Sheet – I love my baking sheets, there is plenty of room and they are easy to clean. (Especially when topped with parchment paper or a silicone mat)!

Basic Staples for Making Paleo Bacon-Wrapped Beef Bites

Uncured Sugar-Free Bacon – The bacon is the star of this dish! When sourcing bacon make sure it is uncured and contains no added sugars for a 100% Paleo compliant dish. Thankfully, many companies, such as Applegate and Pederson’s, offer these options in most health food stores and on Amazon.

Stew Meat – Depending on where you source your meat, sometimes there is an option for pre-cut stew meat, which may cost a few cents more, or you can purchase a chuck roast and cut it into 2-inch or smaller pieces for this recipe. If the budget allows for it, its best to source local and grass-fed beef from a farm or butcher.

BBQ Sauce – When time is short, and my budget has some legroom, I will purchase my favorite BBQ sauce from Primal Kitchen (click here for 10% off your first order). Otherwise, you can make my homemade sugar-free BBQ sauce from my cookbook, The Big Book of Paleo Cooking.
