How to clean your microwave naturally and safely without breaking the bank or using chemicals.

I’m always looking for ways to ditch chemicals and save money. So, when it came time to clean my microwave – I did just that.

I’m not a huge fan of microwaves – but we have one, and it does get dirty. I mostly blame the husband as he’s the only one that uses it and never coves his food. #men

While I’ve become more active since changing my lifestyle, I’ve also become lazier when it comes to cleaning.

There are a few chores I ABSOLUTELY hate doing; putting away clothes, washing the floors, scrubbing the tub, and cleaning the microwave.

Come to think of it chores just aren’t my thing.

I like to get my chores done quickly, efficiently, and with minimal effort.

With that in mind let’s get straight to the point….

I know what your thinking, you haven’t cleaned your microwave in years and there is no way something as natural as a lemon and a little water would even break the surface of those caked on stains. (Think, again)!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lemon
  • water
  • microwave-safe bowl or container

Time needed: 5 minutes.

How to Clean Your Microwave with an All-Natural Solution

  1. Fill a microwave-safe bowl 2/3 full.

  2. Cut lemon in half and add it to your bowl.

  3. Put the bowl in the microwave and ‘cook’ for 3-5 minutes depending on the size of your microwave.

The smaller the appliance the shorter the time needed.

  4. Once the beeper goes off DO NOT open the door. Allow the bowl to sit untouched for at least 3-5 minutes.

  5. Open door and remove your bowl VERY CAREFULLY. It will be hot.

  6. Take a damp rag or paper towel and wipe down the insides of your microwave.

  7. If you have a stubborn blemish take 1/2 of your lemon and carefully rub it on your stain and retry wiping it with your rag.

Your water and lemon may be still HOT.

Happy Cleaning!
