Homemade No Added Sugar Jello

Paleo,  Gluten-Free, Minimal Ingredients, & Allergy Friendly


Hi, Mama! With overly processed and sugar-filled snacks lining the shelves of our supermarkets, finding the perfect snack for your little snackosaurs can become a challenge. Even the items labeled ‘healthy’ and ‘organic’ can be misleading.


Over the years companies have become quite clever in their marketing practices. As a mom, you want whats best for your kids and no matter how good their packaging looks you are smart enough to check the ingredients list.


When I’m not making homemade jello, I have three general rules when it comes to purchasing ‘health{ier}’ non-Paleo snacks for my boys.

General Rules


1. I must be able to read all ingredients. That means being able to pronounce everything from the first to last ingredient.

2. Product must contain five ingredients or less. {Some items are an exception – like granola}.

3. It can not contain soy, added unnatural sugars, or chemicals.

Luckily making your little snackosaurs homemade no added sugar jello is not only a healthier option, but you can avoid dragging them through the dreaded snack aisle at the supermarket.


I’ve been making my boy’s homemade jello with Smart Juice. It comes in a variety of flavors and is naturally sweet from the fruit contained within. Our favorite flavor of Smart Juice is the Antioxidant Force, and our least desired is the Beet and Strawberry. {It has a strong beet taste and lacks in sweetness – It’s excellent for drinking, but not for snacking} Smart Juice is our preferred choice when making a no added sugar jello, but feel free to use your family’s favorite brand and flavor.


No Added Sugar Jello - Homemade & Paleo


If you are a Pinterest mom, you probably have a gummy bear molding tray. This recipe can also be used for making homemade gummy bears. I highly suggest adding in an extra half of tablespoon to full tablespoon of gelatin. This will help the gummy bears firm up to a fruit snack texture and hold their shape.


For regular jello follow the recipe as directed and enjoy!

Homemade Paleo Jello

  • 1 Cup Juice
  • 1 Cup Cold Water
  • 2 TBSP Gelatin


  1. In a small saucepan bring juice to a boil.

  2. Slowly sprinkle in gelatin as you whisk.

  3. Once gelatin is fully absorbed into juice; add water and whisk together.

  4. Pour into desired mold(s) or dish and cool in the fridge for two hours.
